WHAT IS P.R.I.D.E?
At Orange Grove Elementary, P.R.I.D.E. helps us remember how to make good choices at school.
P.R.I.D.E. stands for:
P – Punctual: We will be on time, every day.
R – Respect & Responsibility: We will respect ourselves, others and property and take responsibility for our own learning.
I – Integrity: We will do the right thing, even when no one is looking.
D – Determination: Determination begins with the decision to try.
E – Everyone’s Safe: We will follow all rules to make school a safe place to learn.

Staff at Orange Grove use a Behavior Matrix to teach what P.R.I.D.E. looks like in different places, like the classroom, playground, and hallways. Students review these expectations often. We also hold school-wide assemblies during the year to help everyone remember and practice P.R.I.D.E.

PBIS Behavior Expectation Posters show what PRIDE looks like in different places at school, such as the classroom, playground, and hallways. Teachers review these posters with students to help everyone remember how to make good choices and stay safe. (See Side Panel for Behavior Expectation Posters by Settings)
PBIS "Stallion PRIDE Coupons" are used to recognize and reward students for making positive choices and showing PRIDE. Students earn coupons when they follow school expectations, demonstrate kindness, responsibility, and effort, or go above and beyond. These coupons help motivate students, reinforce positive behavior, and celebrate success in a meaningful and encouraging way.

When a student needs help with behavior, staff use teaching tools to guide and support them:
These steps are meant to teach, not punish, and help students grow and succeed.(See Side Panel for Behavior Flowchart, 3 Column Notes for Behavior Reflection, Reflection/Think Sheet and Apology Letter)
WHAT CAN PARENTS DO TO SUPPORT PBIS AND P.R.I.D.E.?
Parents and families play an important role in helping students practice positive behavior at school and at home. Here are some ways you can help:
Parents have the opportunity to earn a "Parent Volunteer PRIDE Coupon" when participating or volunteering in different events at Orange Grove School. At home or in your presence, your child can earn the coupon by showing PRIDE behaviors, such as being respectful, responsible, and safe. When giving them the coupon, explain to them the reason why you are giving it to them (Examples: Listening when I called for you, Putting your belongings away without me telling you, Being safe in a moving vehicle, etc.) Once earned, students bring the coupon back to school and use it toward school prizes and rewards. This helps connect positive behavior at home with positive behavior at school.

Second Step for Families (Social and Emotional Learning Curriculum)

Second Step is a social-emotional learning program that helps students build skills for success in school and life. The program teaches children how to manage emotions, show empathy, solve problems, and make safe, respectful choices. Lessons are age-appropriate and support students in building strong relationships and positive behavior.
